The meeting dates have changed from the first Tuesday of the month to the second Tuesday of the month to avoid a scheduling conflict with school committee meetings. Our meeting location may change to a different room in Mohawk if the jazzercise class is still using the cafeteria.

All School Musical: Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Mohawk's Music Department will present Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on March 16, 17, and 18, 2012. Cast auditions are December 20, 21, and 22 from 2:30 -4:00 pm.

There will be a meeting of all cast members and parents on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 6:30-7-30 pm.

Winter Concert - Help Needed

The Mohawk Music Department's Winter Concert is next Thursday, December 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mohawk auditorium.

CONCERT BAKE SALE
The Mohawk Music Association will be fund-raising by selling refreshments in the lobby during intermission. We're seeking donations of baked goods to sell. Can you bake (or buy)? Items need to be individually wrapped and of a size appropriate to sell for $1.00. We also need a few helpers to sell and/or clean up after the concert. If you can help out with baking or working, please let me know.

HALL MONITORS DURING CONCERT
The music teachers are seeking a few parents to help with monitoring students in the back hallway and music room during the concert. They'd like to set up a few shifts of a few parents each. If you can help, please contact Ms. Kastanas or Ms. Glover.

The Bubs are coming back to NBC

Vicki and Steve McCormick shared this news about an upcoming live performance on NBC by the Beelzebubs, including their son, Matt McCormick. The Beelzebubs were the first runner-up in the 2009 debut season of The Sing-Off on NBC. Matt graduated from Mohawk in 2006 and was very involved in the Mohawk Music Department.

The NBCwebsite doesn't say anything about this "reunion" concertyet, because they are still finishing up this season, but Matt McCormick andthe Bubs (from 2 years ago) are all flying out Nov. 28- Dec 6th andthey know it will be a live performance - so it will have to be onMonday Dec.5th (on NBC).

The top groups from the first 2 seasons wereall invited back out to LA for that week of practice before the liveshow on the 5th. It’ll be a fun reunion for them andMatt is psyched!

The show will tape in two parts, each 2 hours in length, at Sony Studios in Culver City. Part I tapes on December 4th from 7-9pm and Part II is LIVE from 5-7pm on December 5th.

On Thursday, November 10 there will betwo performances of “You Belong to Me: World War II Veterans’Stories and Music of the Era”, featuring Mohawk students asperformers and stage technicians. The first performance will be atschool and the second, in the evening, will be at the Shelburne Senior Center in Shelburne Falls.

The project was developed by local artist JackieCooper and evolved from the interviews she conducted with localveterans, some of whom are the relatives of the students in theproduction. Kim Mancuso, a local director with internationalexperience, is directing the performance.

The public is welcome toattend the performance in the Mohawk auditorium at 12:45 pm or the evening performance in the Shelburne Senior Center at 6:30 pm. Admission is free.

Pie Sale at Booster Day Football Game

The Mohawk Music Association's annual Booster Day pie sale will be happeningat the evening football game at Mohawk on Friday, 10/28/11.We need people to bake pies -- any kind you'd like to make. And people tohelp sell them from our booth or by walking through the stands.

As usual, we'll be set up in a tent just inside the entrance to the footballfield, selling whole pies and slices of pie.Please let us know if you can bake and/or help out with selling at the tentor in the bleachers. More helpers means shorter work shifts and that can make all the difference on a chilly evening.

Pies can be delivered to the tent at the football game -- either right beforethe game (7pm) or an hour or so earlier. Since there's no school that day,bringing or sending them into school in the morning isn't possible thisyear. Let us know if you will have difficulty getting the pies there. If you use your own non-disposable/recyclable pie plates, you'll be responsible for getting themback.

Music notes: The Mohawk Marching Band and Colorguard will perform in the Booster Day Parade and on the field during halftime.

Game notes: The Mohawk Warriors will be playing the Turners Falls Indians in Mohawk's 45th Annual Booster Day football game. As of Wednesday, October 19 both teams have two wins and two losses in Intercounty League matchups and are playing for wins to qualify for a post-season game. It should be a great game starting at 7pm under the lights at Pollard Field.

Baked Potato Booth at the Ashfield Fall Festival

Great weather is predicted for this weekend and we're looking forward to a crowd of hungry festival-goers singing their praises of the Mohawk Music Association's famous Baked Potato with Toppings. Kevin Hollister's delicious Taco Potato, which made its debut at last year's Festival, will be served again this year. Topped with taco-seasoned ground turkey, shredded cheese, salsa and sour cream, it is a spud-lover's delight. There will also be other yummy toppings to choose from: butter, broccoli, sour cream, yogurt, shredded cheese, and bacon.

Our Baked Potato tent will be set up at the Ashfield Fall Festival on the Town Common, between the Fire House and the large Craft Tent. We hope to see you there. Bring your appetite!

Workers Needed for our Baked Potato Fundraiser

Our annual baked potato fundraiser will be happening at the Ashfield Fall Festival this weekend, October 8 and 9. This is usually our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need a lot of help to make it a success.

Potato bakers - Kevin will be distributing 40 pound boxes of potatoes tonight at the Music Association meeting. If you can't be there tonight please contact us and we will make other arrangements to get the potatoes to you. The potatoes need to be washed, wrapped in foil, and baked for about two hours (detailed instructions are included in each box of spuds). Deliver the hot potatoes to our booth on the Town Common in Ashfield at your scheduled time. We still need potatoes for the following time slots: Saturday at 1 pm and 3 pm, Sunday at 2 pm and 3 pm, and more during the lunch rush (11 am - 1 pm) on both days.

Potato sales - Working at the booth on the Town Common in Ashfield: taking orders and adding the toppings, set-up, clean-up, "runners" to bring the potatoes from the parking areas to the booth. We need at least two more workers on Sunday from 9:45 am - 1 pm and at least 1 more on Sunday from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Marching Band in Colrain Old Home Day Parade

The Mohawk Marching Band will perform in Colrain's Old Home Day Parade on Saturday, September 17, 2011. The parade begins at the Colrain Fire Station at 10:00 am and will proceed along Main Road to Colrain Center and continue along Jacksonville Road to Colrain Central School.

This year Colrain's Old Home Day celebrates Colrain's 250th Anniversary. Music, food, vendors, craft demonstrations, story-telling, games, and more all day long at Colrain Central School. The day will culminate with a fireworks display at 8:00 pm. See the complete event schedule here.
