Hilltown Harmony Concert Recap
Concert Chorus, Select Chorus, and two of our a cappella groups performed in a spirited, standing-room-only concert with Hilltown Harmony at Trinity Church in Shelburne Falls on Friday, Dec. 4.  Our students gave high-quality performances with their signature charm and enthusiasm!

The church served a hearty community supper prior to the concert.  The concert program featured holiday music performed by Hilltown Harmony community chorus, directed by Mohawk alumna Shelley Roberts.  An outstanding brass quintet sponsored by Greenfield Cooperative Band also performed.  The evening closed with a touching sing-along of “Silent Night” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

To everyone who came out to spend the evening with us – Thank You!

Zach Arfa honored with Superintendent’s Award
At a ceremony on December 3, Superintendent Michael Buoniconti recognized senior Zach Arfa as this year’s recipient of the annual Superintendent’s Award.  Superintendent Buoniconti noted Zach’s many accomplishments in academics, athletics, music, and the performing arts in his recognition of Zach at an event held at the Franklin County Technical School.

This is a great time of year to appreciate the dynamic arts scene at Mohawk!  This is a week of music and theater!  On Tuesday our middle school chorus is performing for the Shelburne Falls Senior Center, on Wednesday our high school chorus is singing at the Charlemont Senior Center during the day and our Select Chorus is performing at the Shelburne Falls Women’s Club meeting in the evening, and on Thursday night you can enjoy vocal and instrumental performances from middle and high school music students at our annual Winter Concert at 6:30 pm.  Then come see Mohawk students present the delightful play Arsenic and Old Lace on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 pm! You can see evidence of our vibrant visual arts programming in the display cases in the Front Foyer as you visit our school.
Our engagement with the arts extends to field trips; during the week of December 14 various classes will be visiting the Smith College Museum of Art, Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, and UMass Day of Poetry.
Sincerely,
Principal Lynn R. Dole
