Student Fundraisers
Florida Citrus – Music Students in the High School and Middle School are taking orders for high quality Florida Citrus!  Proceeds benefit the students directly and help to pay for their trips this year (Worldstrides Heritage Exhibition Festival in Annapolis, Maryland for High School students; Music in the Parks for Middle School students).  Orders are due by October 23.  Citrus will arrive in time for Thanksgiving!

Business Sponsorships – High School Music Students are currently seeking individual sponsorships from businesses to help pay for their trip to Annapolis. For a tax deductable donation of $100, businesses support an individual Mohawk Music student, and in return receive advertising in the Music Department Concert Programs. If you have a business and are interested in sponsoring a student, please email Mr. Halligan at: shalligan@gmail.com

MMA Fundraisers – Booster Day Pie Sale! Potato Booth at Fall Festival!
The Mohawk Music Association will be running their annual Pie Sale at the Booster Day Game on Friday, October 9 at Mohawk.  Be sure to stop by the MMA tent for a slice (or two) during the game!

Over Columbus Day weekend, the MMA will once again have their famous Baked Potato booth at the Ashfield Fall Festival.  These baked potatoes from the Teddy C. Smiarowski Farm in Hatfield are hefty and delicious, and they come with toppings of your choice: bacon, broccoli, butter, cheese, chives, salsa, salt & pepper, sour cream, taco meat (ground turkey & seasoning) – all free!  Plus, if the weather happens to be cold that weekend, your baked potato doubles as a hand warmer!

If you are interested in volunteering to help with these important fundraisers, email: MohawkMusicAssociation@gmail.com

Mrs. Clark's Class Pages
Middle School Music News from Mrs. Clark

NYC:
The MS/HS Music department will be taking their annual trip to Broadway on Wednesday, November 4th. This year we will be seeing "Something Rotten" which tells the story of 2 brothers in the year 1590 who are writing the world's first musical after desperate attempts to become playwrights during the time of William Shakespeare's fame.
Tickets are on sale now and are $75 total. An intent form has gone home, asking for a $40 deposit to reserve the ticket. We have limited spots, and it is recommended to return forms a.s.a.p. If your child is in need of another form please have them contact me in class!

Springfield Falcon's hockey game:
On Friday November 13th the Middle School Band and Chorus will be performing at the Springfield Falcon's hockey game. The Band will perform on the concourse, and the Chorus will be performing the national anthem on the ice! This is also a fundraiser for us! Tickets are $18 and the music department will receive $6 back on each ticket. In the past we have used the funds to pay for busses for future trips, or to reduce ticket prices for students for our Six Flags festival, which will take place in May. Students have received information at open house, or in class this week. Tickets are on sale now, and anyone can come! Parents, family, friends! Checks should be made out to Mohawk and all orders returned to me no later than November 1st. Tickets will be distributed to students beginning November 9th. Our goal this year is to sell 100 tickets! We hope that you can come out and support us at this wonderful event!

Open House and MMA
A BIG thank you to all Middle School Chorus students who performed at our open house last week. Excellent job!! I am so proud of you. It was also great to meet so many parents this year!  Hope that you will all consider becoming a part of the Mohawk Music Association! Our next meeting will be Tuesday October 6th in the library at 6:30p.m. We are always looking for new members!

Junior District Festival:
The Western Ma Junior District music festival is an audition based music festival for band and chorus, and string students in grades 7-9. (Grade 6 for strings). This festival combines students from all over Western MA, and is a great way to increase musical skills and work with students from other schools. The auditions are December 5th. If students are accepted there will be 2 rehearsals and one concert. Last year 3 of our 8th grade chorus students participated and had a fun and very enriching experience. I will be sending home information soon. I also have more information on the "junior districts" link on my class pages. I am hoping to have more chorus students, and band students participate this year!
