We are really ramping up our fundraising efforts this year! High School Band and Chorus Members have a fundraising goal of $5251 to cover the transportation cost for their trip to the Heritage Festival in Williamsburg, Virginia over April Vacation. Good News: The MMA has donated $2000 towards this goal! (Thank You, MMA!). So there is $3251 left to raise to meet the goal! Hitting this mark will make the trip affordable for all Band and Chorus Members who want to participate. Here is some more info on current fundraising efforts:
-          Car Wash  - the Car Wash Fundraiser is this Wednesday! Help us meet our fundraising goal!
-          Florida Citrus – Music Students in the High School and Middle School are taking orders for high quality Florida Citrus! Proceeds benefit the students directly and help to pay for their trips this year (Heritage Festival for High School students, Music in the Parks for Middle School students). Citrus orders will arrive in time for Thanksgiving!
-          Business Sponsorships – High School Music Students are currently seeking individual sponsorships from businesses to help pay for their trip to the Heritage Festival. For a tax-deductible donation of $100, businesses support an individual Mohawk Music student, and in return receive advertising in our Winter and Spring Concert Programs. If you have a business and are interested in sponsoring a student, please email Mr. Halligan at:
-          Tote Bags – The MMA has Tote Bags for sale! $3 each! They are very practical and they make great gifts! You can find them at the Ashfield Fall Festival, in Sanderson Academy’s Local Goods Catalogue, and on the MMA website:

An addendum from Ms. Glover:
* Reminder - Final payments are due by October 7th.
* We currently have 9 tickets available. If you are interested in coming along and would like to purchase a ticket please contact me at, or Mr. Halligan at You may also find info and permission slips on my class pages (see link below)
* If you are a chaperone for this trip don't forget to fill out a CORI form a.s.a.p. You will need to bring your license to the front office at Mohawk. This process usually takes several weeks, so please plan accordingly. This is going to be a great trip and the students are getting really excited!!

Believe it or not our Winter Concert is only 11 short weeks away, on December 10th. Students will be fitted for their vests and tuxedo shirts in the very near future. Vests and shirts are owned by Mohawk and students use them for various performances throughout the year. Students are required to provide their own black dress pants, black dress shoes, and black socks. Please see my class pages for more information on the concert dress policy. (link below)

Students should have received information on the Citrus Fundraiser. This is a fundraiser that Mr. Halligan has set up for the High School students as a way to minimize their Virginia trip payment. Mr. Halligan has offered for Middle School students to join in on this as well, as a way to help with the cost of our Six Flags field trip in May. The Music Association has once again generously donated the $29 per student performance fee for each student, as they have done in the past. This leaves the fee for the ticket to get into Six Flags, as well as the bus fee for the day. These 2 items usually total between $45-$60.00. This fundraiser is a way for students to work to individually reduce this payment, and, if students sell enough citrus they may even be able to go for free! The orders are due by October 31st and fruit will arrive in time for Thanksgiving!

A BIG thank you! to all of the Chorus students who came out to sing for Open House. I was thrilled with attendance, and the professionalism the students exhibited. I have had so many compliments from parents of music students, and parent of non-music students. What a great way to start of the year! It was also fantastic to be able to meet so many parents at open house that evening and I look forward to seeing you at our Winter Concert.

Just a reminder that my class pages are a great way for parents to receive information about everything regarding the music program. From concert dress, performance schedule, field trip information … it's all there. There's even a monthly calendar which lists what days are band or chorus days, so students will never be unclear - especially as we get into the snow day season and schedules tend to change quickly. Please use this as a resource and check often as I add information each week. (see link below)

Our next Mohawk Music Association meeting will be held on Tuesday October 7th at 6:30p.m. in the library. This is a very busy time for us with Booster week, and Ashfield Fall Festival right around the corner. So… if you were thinking about attending a meeting or volunteering, now would be great time!

The Music Association is looking for a donation of pies to be sold at the Booster Day game on October 3rd. Pies can be of any flavor, but should be in a disposable pie plate if possible. The pies can be dropped off at the music room on October 3rd (during the day) or at the pie tent near the front gate of the football field by 4:30 or after. Thank you for your help!
