Music News

From Principal Lynn Dole's September 14, 2014 Newsletter:

From Mr. Halligan
This fall we have a lot happening in the music department! Next week the Band and Chorus will host their first GUEST NIGHT. The following night, our Chorus will be performing at Open House. We have a Car Wash Fundraiser planned during Booster Week, as well as a series of performances on Booster Day.  Initial payments will be due soon for our November trip to New York City to see Aladdin on Broadway, as well as for the competition trip to Williamsburg, Virginia over April Vacation for high school band and chorus members. Also, the MMA has two major fundraisers planned and could use parent volunteers.

GUEST NIGHT – September 17, 5:00-7:00 pm
I would like to invite all Mohawk High School students to GUEST NIGHT on Wednesday evening, September 17, in the music room from 5-7pm. We have a good thing going on in the music department - too good to keep to ourselves! Students: Come to GUEST NIGHT and experience first-hand what it's like to make music in our Band and Chorus. Join our Band as they play "Party Rock Anthem" and see how they get ready for the Booster Day Parade! Sing your heart out with our Chorus as they sing African songs, Gospel music, and "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons! This will be a good time. And there will be snacks. Wednesday, 5-7pm in the Music Room. No experience is necessary, and the more the merrier!

Choirs Perform at Open House – September 18, 6:15-6:45pm
Come early to Open House next Thursday to hear the Middle School and High School Choirs perform in the foyer. These groups are off to a very good start this year – and the acoustics in the foyer will take your breath away! Later that evening, please stop by the music room to say hello!

Aladdin – Payments due September 23
Students in the Middle School and High School Music program are eligible to participate in a special trip to New York City on November 5 to see “Aladdin” on Broadway. The total cost of the trip is $105. We have 85 tickets reserved and they are available while they last on a first come first served basis. For those interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, $60 is due by September 23. The remaining $45 will be due by October 10. Late payments cannot be accepted.
