"It’s a great improvisation”

Today's Recorder newspaper features a front page article about Mohawk's new Music Director, Scott Halligan, titled New stage for music and drama at Mohawk. The article discusses Mr. Halligan's music background, current projects, and goals for his students and the music department.

Mr. Halligan earned a Master's degree in music from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. His primary instrument is the cello, but he also plays 20 other instruments.

Besides rehearsing his ensembles for the December 11 Winter Concert, Mr. Halligan is also working on the upcoming production of The Hobbit with Drama Director Jonathan Diamond.

The article closes with a quote from Mr. Halligan about one of his goals for his students:
“I want them to have realworld skills as musicians . . . . Just to live your life is a great creative endeavor. It’s a great improvisation,” he said
