Matt McCormick's Mohawk Music Career

Matt was involved in the music program even before he arrived at Mohawk.  As a 5th and 6th grader at Buckland-Shelburne Elementary School, he was in the chorus ensemble for the middle school plays.

In 7th grade he played Oliver in the musical of the same name, and in 8th grade was the ugly duckling in Honk.

When he entered high school he joined Select Chorus, Chorus, Jazz Band and Band. Matt was in The King and I, Les Miserables, Seussical the Musical and Oklahoma.

Trips to Broadway and performances at Disneyland were a real highlight of the Mohawk Music Program.  In addition to being involved in the music program, Matt played soccer and volleyball.  Each summer he participated in at least one Ja’Duke production at the Shea Theater in Turners Falls.

Matt benefited tremendously from all the coaching, encouragement and guidance he received from everyone in the Mohawk Music Program. The camaraderie, dedication to excellence and sense of cooperation shared by all at Mohawk helped shape who Matt is today.  He is especially grateful to Nick Waynelovich and Judy Kulp for their positive influence on his music and life lessons.

Thanks to Matt's parents, Vicki and Steve McCormick, for sharing Matt's Mohawk Music biography and photos. Vicki and Steve were active members of the Mohawk Music Association during Matt's and his brother Tim's years at Mohawk.
